Duties & Responsibilities

Founder/Director, DNA Wales Network:

A collaborative research, education and professional development of Management in Wales. DNA Wales is a research and education network led by the University of Glamorgan Business School involving Cardiff University Business School; UWIC Cardiff School of Management and the University of Wales, Newport. Located at the Waterton Technology Centre, we collaborate with key economy enhancing organisations to question current management practice, think the untinkable and improve performance by ‘not managing’. The group’s thinking is based in Soft Systems and Complexity Thinking. DNA Wales supports businesses with developing globally competitive leadership skills through: Guidance – research, bespoke support and useful resources; Education – training opportunities and management qualifications and networking – with like-minded practicing managers at business-oriented events. The Network is partly funded by DEIN and the Welsh Assembly Government.

Director Welsh Research Unit, Governance and Leadership

The Welsh Research Unit for Governance and Leadership (WRUGL) provides research and gudance for academic, public sector and business communities in Wales, the UK and international communities. Through a number of research projects the unit allows academic practitioners to synthesise their expertise in areas relating to governance and leadership. The main objectives of WRUGL are knowledge development and the transfer of knowledge through dissemination in academia and the wider community. Research specialisits in areas such as: Identity, Culture and Governance; Identity, Culture and Knowledge Management; Ethics and Diversity; Critical Leadership and Innovation Management and Governance. WRUGL has links via DNA with local and regional SMEs, government advisors, professional bodies, financial services companies and financial services interest groupings. Members of WRUGL have developed links with financial services companies and financial services interest groupings e.g. Liverpool Victoria, the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the European Capital Market Institute (ECMI) and the Worshipful Company of Insurers. The Unit has contributed to a high profile research project, which investigated the Europeanisation of British Politics and Policy-making (EBPP). Furthermore, WRUGL maintains close links with CIPD and provides both practicaland thoeretical HRD, HRM and industrial relations issues to business.
